Hardware VS Plugins for Mastering.

What's the difference in using hardware or plugins for mastering?...

Pro's and Con's of using hardware equipment for mastering:

Pro's:

After hardware is used your music Sounds big and punchy, fills your track with warmth and clarity.

Give's that industry standard sound.

Will sound great on every playback system, pleasing to your ears.

The proper way to getting your music mastered.

Feels real turning knobs and moving faders.

Con's:

Expensive, but affordable most of the time.

Hardware is expensive to maintain.

No recall when using hardware, (cannot save presets)

Tricky and daunting to finding the right engineer for your music.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pro's and Con's of using plugins for mastering:

Pro's:

Digital plugins for DAW's are affordable, but very close sounding to actual hardware.

Presets are recallable.

No maintenance costs.

save on electric bills!

Con's:

Nothing compared to the Real thing. (Hardware mastering)

Digital is harsh, cold, thin sounding... Why master with plugins when 90% produce their music on a digital system. At least with Hardware mastering you can inject life back into your music.

everybody can buy the same plugin as you, whereas if you have a specific piece of hardware it can also be modded or custom built, just for YOU.

Plugins only shouldn't be used for mastering, you need both: Hardware & Digital tools to get the job done.
